IEEE PowerTalks Oman 2024

From September 17 to 19, 2024, members of the Oman Hydrogen Centre (OHC) participated in IEEE PowerTalks Oman, a prominent power and energy conference held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat. The event gathered industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss critical topics such as energy transition, decarbonization strategies, power system modernization, and the integration of renewable energy. OHC’s attendance underscored its commitment to remaining at the forefront of global energy innovations.

The conference featured a series of insightful sessions addressing the challenges and opportunities in moving toward a low-carbon future. Key discussions included “Energy Transition Strategies,” which focused on sustainable and low-carbon energy systems, and “Power Sector Decarbonization,” exploring the role of renewable energy in Oman’s power sector. These sessions deepened OHC members’ understanding of hydrogen’s pivotal role in the energy transition—a core focus for the organization.

OHC representatives gained valuable insights from leading experts shaping the future of the energy sector. Notable speakers included Dr. Haitham Abu-Rub, Managing Director of the Smart Grid Center in Qatar, who delivered a keynote on the role of smart grids in the energy transition. Additional sessions on market regulations, energy storage solutions, and grid modernization exposed attendees to innovative technologies aimed at enhancing the integration of renewable energy into existing power systems.

By attending PowerTalks Oman, the OHC team not only stayed informed about the latest energy advancements but also strengthened their industry networks. The knowledge and insights acquired will support OHC’s ongoing efforts to position Oman as a leader in green hydrogen and sustainable energy development.

As the global energy landscape continues to evolve, OHC remains dedicated to leveraging new opportunities to contribute to Oman’s ambitious goals in green hydrogen production and the advancement of a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.
