Oman Hydrogen Centre
Oman Hydrogen Centre (OHC) was established in 2019 by the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech), and it is the first research centre of its kind in Oman and is supporting the country in accelerating its transition to renewable energy. OHC aims to play the main role in shifting from fossil energy sources to renewable sources such as solar and wind with green hydrogen as the energy carrier and clean industrial base material of the future economy. Its activities and future are aligned with Oman Vision 2040. Additionally, it works to develop competencies in the field of a hydrogen-based economy in cooperation with local and international parties and align activities between industry, academics, government, and society.
Oman Hydrogen Centre (OHC) is an organizational unit of the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech).
OHC comprises visiting experts, permanent staff, and temporary members and is supported by GUtech’s diverse administrative and academic departments and service units.
To be a key innovative Hydrogen hub in MENA by 2025.
OHC is committed to enable the adoption of Hydrogen-based economy in Oman as a way of sustaining an environmental, social, and economic transformation, by enhancing awareness, education, research, innovation and technology in the field. This will be achieved through:
- Research, innovation, and technology transfer
- Strategic collaboration with research, academic and industrial partners, locally and internationally
- Capacity building and knowledge management
